Pizza for President: This Website Wants to Give You Free Pizza

By Maris Callahan

If there's one thing that we can all agree on in the United States, it's a love for pizza that crosses all party lines. That is why Pizza to the Polls, on www.polls.pizza, a nonpartisan initiative to get free pizza to hungry voters, launched this week just in time for Election Day.

"I came up with the idea talking with my friends and my buddy Noah Manger and I built the site and got it rolling last Sunday," Pizza to the Polls founder Scott Duncombe told FoxNews.com. The site is a spin-off of a political action committee that the pair ran during the race.

Here's the deal: voters can visit Pizza to the Polls’ website: www.polls.pizza, to report long lines at their voting precincts. Submit a social media post about the voter line and the address of the precinct location. Then, the entrepreneurial pizza advocates will order a pizza from a nearby shop, which delivers the pie right into the hands of the voter.

“Americans are hungry for democracy and are turning out in record numbers to vote. But that means long lines and sometimes empty stomachs, which might discourage these brave patriots from performing their civic duty,” says the website.

If you want to throw your hat into the political ring without making a major party affiliation, the site is currently soliciting donations to help pay for the pizzas-- visitors can donate any amount from $10, enough to cover the cost of one pizza, to any amount and any funds remaining after the polls close will be donated to help feed America's hungry.

As of late morning on Election Day, Pizza to the Polls has delivered 283 pizzas to hungry voters and is still going strong, as evidenced by a ticker on the website.

We don't know who will win the 2016 presidential election, but one thing we know for sure: we'll vote for 'dot-pizza' any way.
